Wanted: Clever Developer Slogans

Written in

For those of you that have met me in person, you know I have a tendency to wear t-shirts with clever, ironic, and sometimes just arrogant words or artwork on them.  But as I’ve looked around the landscape of the shirts that are being offered anymore, there are very few that truly appeal to software developers.

So, I was thinking about what kinds of sayings, pictures, or bold statements YOU might wear on a t-shirt.  Here’s a few I’ve seen in real life that are in the vein of what I’m looking for:

  • “your phone sucks”
  • “VB6 developers can’t see sharp.”
  • “</head><body>” (right under the neck of the shirt)
  • “I don’t always test my code, but when I do, I prefer to do it IN PRODUCTION.”

What would you put on a shirt?  Please leave your ideas in the comments.  I might even make some of them into real shirts.

I eat pieces of code like you for breakfast!

A guy in the local user group had a shirt made w/ the classic staredad (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/staredad) with the caption Stacktrace or GTFO.

Along the lines of your second example above, I once saw something to the extent of – “I’d rather be seen as a SHARP developer rather than a BASIC developer.”

I want to make sure the classics get in the mix:

    “There’s no place like”

“There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don’t”

“I’m not slacking off. My code’s compiling”

“SELECT * FROM Users WHERE Clue > 0 — No Records Found”

“Go away or I will replace you with a small shell script.”

    Some new ones:

“I could have been a model. But I wanted to make more money.”

“Oh you have a great software idea that will make millions?”

My personal favorite is still this one:
    /* no comment */

Another classic, similar along the one mentioned before, but a bit more subtle:

Developers don’t write the code, they DEBUG it.

Because it is below C level.

In order to understand recursion, one must first understand recursion.

Code red is when vs shows lot of red lines in code…
    Fun begins when coding ends…
